Growth and Innovation: Looking Back at 2023 and Ahead to a Promising 2024

Reflecting on our success
As we step into the New Year, our Rewild team is reflecting on an eventful year and ahead to an even more promising one. After an extended break to recharge and spend time with family and friends, we’re energized and ready to continue our mission of helping clients make a positive impact on the world.

A Year of Growth and Impact
Last year was a landmark year for our agency. We welcomed new members to our team and worked on numerous exciting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) projects. Our efforts contributed significantly to advancing sustainability practices in various sectors, demonstrating our commitment to creating a better future. It's something that is top of mind, with 2023 named the hottest year on record.

A few of our highlights from last year include organisational assessments, event, and product certifications for Climate Active, Green Star certifications, B Corp assessments and ESG strategy development for a variety of clients. Our team has also been working on ongoing WELL and Living Building Challenge Assessments, Life Cycle Analyses, and Embodied Carbon Assessments for a variety of clients in Australia and internationally.

Previewing our year ahead
This year holds immense potential. We are thrilled to work alongside our clients, guiding them in their sustainability journeys and fostering positive environmental and social impacts. We’re also eagerly anticipating the launch of our sister company, Impact Sustainability’s emission management software, Climate Zero and educational platform, Climate Zero Learn.

Navigating a Rapidly Changing Global Sustainability Landscape
In Australia, mandatory climate-related reporting is on the horizon, while in the European Union, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is now in effect. These changes signify a growing recognition of the importance of sustainability reporting and accountability, impacting businesses globally.

Organizations, regardless of their size or reporting requirements, are increasingly expected to disclose their environmental impacts, both directly and indirectly. This trend emphasizes the importance of transparency in corporate sustainability efforts.

Predictions for 2024: A Focus on Transparency and Accountability
This year, we’ll be on the lookout for:

  • Increased Attention on Impact Reporting: Larger companies will face mandatory reporting requirements, but small and medium-sized enterprises will also need to report on supply chain and Scope 3 emissions.

  • Double Materiality Assessments: Businesses will assess not only how sustainability issues affect them, but also how they in turn impact these issues.

  • Scrutiny of Greenwashing Claims: As sustainability becomes more mainstream, there will be a heightened focus on the authenticity of green claims. With increased attention from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Association of National Advertisers we’re sure to see increased scrutiny on public claims.

  • Evolution of Sustainability Standards: We're excited to see the outcomes of B Lab’s evolution of the B Corp standards and Climate Active’s public consultation. These developments will shape the certification standards in the years to come.

We’re dedicated to helping our clients navigate these changes and implement robust sustainability strategies to make positive impact in the world.
