Project Overview

Hall & Wilcox’s new workplace at Queen & Collins, a premium A Grade office tower on Collins Street integrated with heritage buildings, delivers a 3,593 sqm fitout across four connected levels. The workplace includes an intertenancy staircase, semi-commercial catering kitchen, breakout and collaborative zones, and warm client-facing spaces.

Rewild Agency acted as Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) to deliver the pending 6 Star Green Star certified rating and the Platinum WELL ratings.

Key Initiatives to Achieve the 6-Star Green Star Certification

  • Energy efficiency: High-efficiency HVAC and lighting, leveraging base-building systems, with flexible workplace and event/gallery lighting, with 100% renewable electricity commitment for five years.

  • Indoor Environmental Quality: Daylight, views and biophilic design (planting and natural textures) to support wellbeing.

  • Sustainable Product selection: Lower-impact, healthier materials, including FSC-certified timber and low-VOC finishes, supported by a certified Life Cycle Analysis assessment. Responsible sourcing using supplier questionnaires and products with Declare labels/EPDs.

  • Sustainable transport: excellent public-transport access, abundant end-of-trip facilities (bike racks/lockers/showers)

  • Social procurement: targeted spend directed to Indigenous, women-owned and social enterprise suppliers.

Key Initiatives to Achieve the WELL Platinum Certifications

  • WELL Policy review: An in-depth review of all Hall & Wilcox’s national policies for compliance against the WELL Building Standards’ best practice, and assistance in the integration of recommendations to achieve WELL compliance.

  • Indoor Air Quality management: Installation of Kaiterra Sensors to enable the visualisation of air quality, alongside sensing of thermal Comfort parameters. Specification of low-VOC materials throughout and the implementation of a a construction IAQ management plan, plus verification of ventilation effectiveness and filtration performance.

  • Material health and transparency: Selection of products with health disclosures (e.g. low-emitting finishes, furniture with material transparency documentation) and avoiding restricted substances.

  • Acoustic comfort: Management of background noise levels, reverberation times, and sound transmission between spaces through appropriate acoustic design and material selection.
